This morning Carly Pearce uploaded an acoustic video performance of her current single, “We Don’t Fight Anymore” to her YouTube channel.
The single currently being promoted at country radio features Chris Stapleton, and although some may be disappointed to hear a version without the superstar (arguably so), I’m here to tell you that Carly absolutely CRUSHED it.
While the original studio version is nothing short of amazing, the emotion conveyed by Pearce in this video supersedes that of her vocal performance on the original. Or maybe it was just the production, or lack thereof when you’re accompanied only by an acoustic guitar.
Written by Pearce, as well as Shane McAnally and Pete Good, the song touches on feelings of apathy in a failing relationship. Pearce and Stapleton lament on the fact that they “don’t even fight anymore,” signaling that there’s simply nothing left in the relationship to fight for.
When Pearce first announced the release date to her Instagram, she had this to say:
“This song embodies a place that I think, if we are honest with ourselves, we’ve all felt at some point in a relationship.
The distance that feels heartbreaking, yet you’re also indifferent. I’ve always been a writer who never wanted to shy away from the “uncomfortable” moments in all of our lives, and this song feels too important not to share.”
Carly was also recently included in the lineup for this year’s RODEOHOUSTON agricultural and entertainment festival announced last week. You can view the full lineup and dates here.
