Hosted by Ludacris and featuring phenomenal performances from superstars like Justin Timberlake, Tate McRae, Green Day, and more, the 12th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards were truly one for the books, taking place at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California last night (April 1).
While celebs like SZA, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and more took home some of the most coveted awards of the evening, Morgan Wallen made the country music industry proud by taking home the trophies for Country Artist of the Year and Country Album of the Year for One Thing At A Time, while country superstars Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson also secured some awards this fateful night.
As mentioned, Morgan Wallen — known for tunes like “Last Night,” “You Proof,” “Thought You Should Know” and more — beat out Jason Aldean, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson and Luke Combs for Country Artist of the Year, as well as took home the trophy for Country Album of the Year for One Thing At A Time. This was not the first time Wallen’s name was read off at the thrilling award show, as the Tennessee native was named Country Artist of the Year at the 11th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards as well, making him the back-to-back champion.
While he secured two awards, Wallen was also nominated for Song of the Year, Country Song of the Year, Artist of the Year and Best Lyrics at the iHeartRadio Music Awards last night, but lost to Lainey Wilson, SZA and Taylor Swift, respectively.
Despite taking home two trophies, Wallen was unable to accept the awards at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, as he is facing a tight schedule ahead of his One Night at a Time World Tour, gearing up for his first two shows at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana as we speak.
Fans were proud of the country crooner nonetheless, taking to X — formerly known as Twitter — to express their enthusiasm.
“THE KING OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY,” one fan exclaimed.
“Well deserved,” another wrote.
Wallen can add another trophy to his collection at the CMT Music Awards on Sunday (April 7), as he is nominated for Male Video of the Year for “Last Night (One Record at a Time Sessions).” Until then, we cannot help but congratulate him on these two iHeartRadio Music Awards victories.
