Tim McGraw Takes A Gnarly Fall On His A** During Cincinnati Show – And Somehow Makes An Impressive Recovery

I’ve never witnessed a more Humpty-Dumpty cartoon character-esque fall in real life quite like the one Tim McGraw had last night.

The “Green Grass Grows” singer took quite the tumble on stage in Cincinnati yesterday evening, August 27, while performing his iconic 1995 hit “I Like It, I Love It.” Safe to say I dont think he was likin’ or lovin’ life after falling directly on his tailbone mid-song.

There’s something about artists and elevated surfaces that apparently makes every country singer want to climb up on top of boxes and speakers on stage (which we should learn by now is never a good idea). Following this theme, McGraw hopped up on the lifted containers at the front of the stage, getting a better view of the audience, and unfortunately making one wrong step backwards, catapulting himself onto his a**.

Now, I give the 59-year-old singer-songwriter massive credit— he bounced right back up after taking that gnarly (and surely painful) fall backwards. I guess this is why it’s important to work out?

Looking completely unfazed, he recovered way better than I would’ve, giggling with the Riverbend Music Center crowd and immediately pushing himself up. He let the crowd take the rest of the verse, because in all fairness, it is hard to keep singing when your life is flashing before your eyes.

McGraw, verifying with his fans that he’s not a complete klutz, walked back over to the culprit of his fall and stomped his boot on the top of it, stating, “There’s a hole there.” According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, he also happened to show up to the show 40 minutes late, which is never a good look, but apparently he experienced travel and weather issues, so I don’t doubt it was already an off night for the three-time Grammy award winner.

Lord only knows what those backbone bruises are looking like this morning, though. Sending prayers for that sore back, Tim.

I also have a feeling he’ll be avoiding all risky platforms tonight on stage as he returns for a Friday night show in Grand Rapids, Michigan, preparing to round out his 2026 Pawn Shop Guitar tour at the end of September.
