Real recognizes real.
Playing at Billy Bob’s Texas is a bucket list for nearly every country singer working today. Located in Fort Worth, Texas, the venue is often viewed as the mother church of honky tonks not only in Texas but the entire country.
Over the weekend, Zach Top made his debut at the iconic Texas venue to a sold-out crowd. As mentioned previously, it’s a special moment to perform at Billy Bob’s. It’s another thing entirely when you’re joined on stage by one of the biggest legends in the genre, and that’s exactly what the “Sounds Like the Radio” singer did on Friday.
During his set, Top was joined by none other than Randy Travis while he performed his severely underrated Top 10 hit, “1982,” which is featured on his debut album, Storms of Life.
The “Three Wooden Crosses” singer was met with a resounding amount of cheers when taking the stage alongside Top. Before he began the cover, the Washington native said, “I’m gonna try to do as good of justice as I can to one of this man’s songs. [It’s] one of my favorites and a whole bunch of his are my favorites. I hope y’all enjoy this tonight.”
To no one’s surprise, Top did the song justice and then some. He delivered a knockout cover of Travis’ hit with the 65-year-old singer/songwriter looking on and smiling. If you’re a fan of Top and Travis, you won’t want to miss this performance.
