It’s all coming together.
Last night at the 59th annual ACM Awards, Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson were big winners, taking home Male Vocalist and Album of the Year and Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year respectively. However, Texas-native, Post Malone, arguably stole the show when he debuted a brand new song.
Post, fashionably dressed with his entire backing band in Dallas Cowboys jerseys, took the stage and debuted a brand new song, seemingly titled “Never Love You Again.”
If there were any doubts that Post was not going to deliver traditional country music on his upcoming album, “Never Love You Again” should put all those doubts away. The track is as traditional as they come, filled to the brim with some gorgeous, crying steel guitar throughout.
After debuting the new song, Post immediately went into a stellar performance of his brand new song, “I Had Some Help,” noticeably without Morgan Wallen.
For what this means for his new album, I believe that Post will be playing with a bunch of different country sounds and subgenres. It’s been well-documented that he likes to explore a multitude of different sounds within albums such as Hollywood’s Bleeding where he delivered traditional rap, pop, alternative and even metal tracks on the album. This up-coming country record seems to be no different. I’d expect Post to deliver some pop, traditional and even bluegrass-inspired songs throughout, but for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
The new song does not currently have a release date.
