Back in 2021, Facebook user Brad Mckinney posted a video of Chris Stapleton performing at the Kentucky Opry in what seems to be around the year 1999. Of course, “Traveller” probably wasn’t even thought of at that moment, so Chris did a cover of Lonestar’s classic hit, “Amazed.”
Written by Marv Green, Aimee Mayo and Chris Lindsey, Amazed was released in March of 1999 as the second single from the band’s third studio album “Lonely Grill.” It went on to spend eight weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country chart, making the power Ballard their biggest song to date.
Nowadays, the 46 year-old Country star could cover just about anyone’s song and put them all to shame so it does feel a little strange to admit this, but I’m not sure I’d rather hear anyone other than lead singer Richie McDonald sing this. Still, it’ll shock you to see a young Chris Stapleton without his signature beard.
Amazed is one of many Country songs I grew up on and will still belt my 30 year-old heart out to whenever it comes on shuffle. Whether it’s Richie, Drew Womack, or hell, even a pre-megastar Chris Stapleton. Check it out for yourself here:
