Talk about the ultimate party.
Last night marked the official celebration in honor of Jason Aldean’s 30+ number-one hits. The “Night Train” singer hit the chart-topping 30 mark this past June 2025 with the song that took over the summer, “Whiskey Drink,” followed by “How Far Does A Goodbye Go” this past February, which tipped him over the edge to an insane 31 number ones.
Coinciding with this week’s three-day Country Radio Seminar event, a congratulatory event was thrown in his honor with Aldean and his team in attendance, as well as a slew of special guests throughout the night (who were complete surprises to the honoree). Representing the leading country’s male vocalists in the 21st century were Blake Shelton, as well as Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, and even a video shout-out from Morgan Wallen.
Probably the biggest moment of the night was an appearance from the ’80s “Mountain Music” legends, Alabama. For anyone who’s a diehard Aldean fan, you’ve probably already heard the Georgia native declare that the band is one of his all-time favorites and one of the biggest inspirations to his career.
In an Armchair Expert podcast episode with Dax Sheppard from September 2025, Aldean referred to Alabama as his version of the “Beatles,” noting their influence early on, “It was kinda like my first memories of music, really, I mean my dad having a record collection and sitting down and playing those.” He added, “I would sit there and play those records over and over, and Alabama was just the band for me that I always gravitated towards. It was like country but still cool.”
Incredibly, in a full circle moment, 76-year-old lead singer Randy Owen, along with 74-year-old bass guitarist Teddy Gentry, rocked the stage in honor of their young fan with a performance of the 1983 hit, “The Closer You Get.” Keeping in mind the fact that this performance from Aldean’s heroes was a complete surprise and that he definitely spun this track from their seventh studio album on vinyl, it had to have been an incredibly special moment for him.
Another one of Aldean’s musical heroes from the ’90s, Travis Tritt, took the stage to give his own rendition of Aldean’s 2013 Billboard Airplay chart topper, “Night Train.” Featured on his 2012 album as the title track, it became his fourth single off the project.
The “Great Day To Be Alive” singer will also join Aldean this summer for the major Y-Live event in Youngstown, Ohio, ahead of Aldean’s upcoming Songs About Us Tour. Coinciding with the release of his 12th studio album of the same name, which will be released on April 24, the tour will kick off on July 16 in Bangor, Maine.
