Everybody’s got to start somewhere, and for Ella Langley, that was playing gigs in dive bars and covering Randy Houser songs from her bedroom.
As the 27-year-old Alabama native continues to dominate the country world and beyond with the unstoppable success of her sophomore album, Dandelion, it becomes increasingly mind-blowing to see where she was in her career just a few years ago. As of today, her lead October 2025 single “Choosin’ Texas” has spent a whopping nine weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, and you’ll be pretty hard-pressed not to find her face plastered all over your feed.
However, back at the start of 2022, Langley had barely just released her very first single, “If You Have To,” and was preparing to put out her subsequent April 2022 track, “Damn You.” However, beyond her own self-written songs, Langley was certainly no stranger to a few covers in her day; she even admitted in a recent TikTok behind-the-scenes clip from tour that her first-ever cover video was of Lil Wayne’s “How To Love” all the way back in eighth grade.
While unfortunately that gem doesn’t exist anymore, at least there are quite a few of her other early-day clips still living on the internet. In this absolute throwback video from January 2022, a no-bangs girl-next-door 22-year-old Langley stunned with her southern twang while covering Randy Houser’s “How Country Feels.”
The Instagram video shockingly has just shy of 14,000 views currently, showcasing her MUCH younger-sounding vocals. This cover also goes far beyond just putting her own spin on Houser’s 2013 title track and first number one hit.
If you check out the caption, Langley excitedly teases, “3 days away!!” And what might she be counting down to? None other than one of her first big supporting tours with the “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” singer himself on his 2022 Live In Concert tour, which kickstarted in Knoxville on the 21st.
Shoutout to Houser for giving the now country music mega-star one of her first big opportunities and, of course, inspiring this relic of a cover. Attributing to her continued success, fast forward to 2026, and Langley is currently continuing out on her highly acclaimed Dandelion Arena tour.
Joined by her own openers this time around, including Kameron Marlowe, Dylan Marlowe, Kaitlin Butts, Gabriella Rose, and Laci Kaye Booth, everyone’s favorite “Be Her” singer will return to the road tomorrow night, May 14, in Estero, Florida, as she continues to captivate her ever-growing fanbase on stage with her final stop wrapping up on August 15 in Fort Worth.
