I’ve heard Luke Combs’ hit “Beautiful Crazy” about thirty billion times during some down-home wedding ceremonies, but inside of a McDonald’s? Now that’s a first.
This clip from a couple’s recent wedding reception has been plastered all over every single one of my social media feeds, which is probably why it now has well over 43 million views on TikTok alone. Yes, you read that right: 43 MILLION.
But in case you’re not chronically online like me and haven’t seen the McCeremony, an Akron, Ohio, couple has absolutely stunned the internet with their recent nuptials being exchanged at a local McDonald’s over the weekend. Congrats to the happy couple, Jamie and George Callicoat, who transformed the fast food joint into their very own McChapel (alright, sorry that’s my last Mc-joke).
This past Saturday, August 8, the event kicked off with Combs’ sentimental wedding anthem from 2017 blaring in the background (a song he also just so happened to write just two weeks after meeting his now-wife of six years, Nicole). Yet shockingly, they did not play the “bada-ba-ba-ba” jingle.
Absurdity aside, the couple’s story is actually pretty sweet, with both of them being employees at the Akron McDonald’s who turned a joke from their boss suggesting the venue into their real-life wedding plans. Their fellow employees, who they consider to be like family, also chipped in, with one co-worker even baking their cake.
As can be expected, though, people online could not hold back in the comment section, taking note of the one-of-a-kind marriage. My personal favorite touch was as one user pointed out that, as Combs’ track faded into the classic tune “Here Comes The Bride,” the flower girl then came waltzing down the aisle, “throwing flowers out a happy meal box.” Gotta give some credit for sticking to the theme.

There are nearly 100K+ comments, so while I could spend hours scrolling through and giggling, here are some of the top observations:

Now, was this certainly a…unique choice? Most definitely. But at the end of the day, in a world where people are dropping the equivalent of a whole mortgage on their weddings, I’d argue this is just as memorable— and at least they got to drink Diet Coke mid-ceremony. Consider me sold.
My only qualm is I feel like not having Ronald McDonald as the officiant was a bit of a missed opportunity; other than that, Congrats to the newlyweds!
