I’m gonna go on a crazy whim here and say Riley Green’s probably never baked a cake in his life…
But that doesn’t mean he didn’t pull through on his promise to Season 30 Voice contestant, Brandy Neelly. Interestingly enough, the 31-year-old aspiring country singer had a pretty sweet-in with the “Different Round Here” singer right off the bat, revealing during her audition round that she actually once baked one of Green’s birthday cakes.
Neelly, a music city local, wowed both Coach Green and Queen Latifah with her rendition of Jo Dee Messina’s 1998 staple, “Lesson In Leavin.” And as if her vocals weren’t enough to swoon America, she also so happens to be a baker on the side and even helped Green celebrate his 23rd birthday with one of her creations.
Returning the favor, after complimenting her performance, Green promised Neelly, “If you pick me, I’ll make you a cake.” I’m not really sure if the bribery was necessary in this case, considering there was a pretty big chance the Nashville starlet would’ve picked Green anyway, but nonetheless, she accepted his offer gladly.
Unfortunately for Neelly, she went on to be kicked off the show as the first artist eliminated during a tight battle against sisters Ferryn and Brinkley on the October 6 episode. According to her social media, though, Green still commemorated her time on the team, officially delivering her long-awaited frosted promise.
Showing off the tri-tiered camo print masterpiece with pink frosting and The Voice emblem, in her short video, she announced to everyone, “Look, I got the cake.” Not only is the pastry decked out in Green’s signature hunting style, but it also features a few little mallard ducks, with the top featuring frosted wording, “Team Riley,” and, of course, a pink microphone.
Brandy showcased a few better close-up shots on her Instagram story, extending her gratitude with the caption: “A promise is a promise, thank you, Riley.”

Now in case you couldn’t tell, while Green may be a superb songwriter, performer, and avid hunter, there ain’t no way in h*ll that man would be able to pull off a cake like this. I’d wager he could tackle a box mix at best.

Rest assured, the creation was a product of epic Nashville-local baker, Mads Eatz, who’s built a following on her out-of-this-world extraordinary cakes. At least Riley knows how to pick ’em good, with Brandy clarifying in a TikTok comment, “he’s the creative director” of the cake.
While Brandy’s journey on the show may be over, the season is still going strong as it heads into the Final 13, returning this Monday, November 9, on NBC at 8/7c.
