A classic.
Today, Craig Morgan released his brand new collaboration EP, “Enlisted,” and the 6 track record includes two brand new songs with Trace Adkins and Luke Combs, as well as four reimagined versions of his older hits featuring some of the biggest names in country music.
Craig recently reflected on why he chose to go the route that he did with this EP, despite never wanting to in the past:
“I’ve always been kind of against re-recording hits. I feel like there are so many new songs people should be hearing. But I also respect the impact some of these songs have had on others. And that’s what makes this relevant. I didn’t just record some of my hits with my friends, I recorded them with people who’ve had a relationship with these songs in some way.”
Not only were the songs re-recorded with a taste of fresh, new vocals, but even the arrangement on most were altered, choosing to give these past hits new life.
On the re-make of “That’s What I Love About Sunday,” written by Adam Dorsey and Mark Narmore and originally released in 2004 as the first single from his My Kinda Livin’ album, Craig enlists (no pun intended) Rascal Flatt’s lead singer, Gary Levox, to help pull off a more soul and R&B rendition of the classic hit.
For decades, Gary has provided country music with massive pop hooks, as well as distinct and powerful vocals, probably being able to outsing much of his male counterparts. If you wanted to reimagine That’s What I Love About Sunday the way that these two did, then calling upon Gary LeVox was 100% the right decision.
Here is a list of the other collaborations on Enlisted:
- Raise The Bar Ft. Luke Combs
- Almost Home ft. Jelly Roll
- Redneck Yacht Club ft. Blake Shelton
- International Harvester ft. Lainey Wilson
- That Ain’t Gonna Be Me ft. Trace Adkins
