Flatland Cavalry has quickly risen through the ranks, becoming one of the hottest independent groups in the entire genre lately. From their inclusion inYellowstone to their appearances on Luke Combs’ 2023 tour, the Texas band has firmly cemented themselves as a premiere group in any of country’s many subgenres. Once again, they are collaborating with Kaitlin Butts, wife of frontman Cleto Cordero.
They wasted no time announcing the release of the song, posting a teaser on Monday before making a formal indication of the song’s release on Wednesday.
This marks the third time Butts has collaborated with Flatland on a track since it was recently revealed that she was incorrectly labeled as a feature on How Long due to Cordero’s falsetto sounding similar to hers. It joins A Life Where We Work Out and Life Without You in the growing list of duets between the country power couple.
Mornings With You feels like a perfect track for the fall; it’s a slow, reflective song that serves as a love letter between Cordero and Butts. Their harmonies, per usual, are excellent throughout, with the chorus particularly highlighting the obvious chemistry between the two. They’re subtle yet effective and reflect the simple beauty of the chorus perfectly.
“I used to think the good life
Was burnin’ up the night
But runnin’ with the devil
Is a dark and lonely ride
Sometimes it takes an angel to change your point of view
Now I live for mornings with you”
Along with the brand new song, the band announced the release of their fourth studio album, Wandering Star, which is set to drop on October 27. Pre-released tracks, Last American Summer and Oughta See You (The Way I Do), will make an appearance on the 13-song record.
