Love him or hate him, it’s hard to deny the sheer amount of success that Jason Aldean has experienced since his debut album in 2005. In the past twenty years, the “She’s Country” singer has scored 28 #1 hits, over 20 platinum singles, five Grammy nominations and most notably, the ACM Artist of the Decade award for the 2010s.
Despite the media-fueled controversy over his politics, Aldean maintained his superstar status and notched his first-career all-genre #1 on the Billboard 100 with “Try That In A Small Town” back in 2023.
With his current single, “Whiskey Drink,” moving from #11 to #10 on this week’s Mediabase chart, today, Aldean scored yet another major career milestone: 40 Top 10 singles at country radio.
Gaining over 5,000 spins over the week, “Whiskey Drink,” surpassed Bailey Zimmerman’s current single, “Holy Smokes” to move up inside of the Top 10. Though it’s still 3,000 spins behind the current #1, Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood’s “I’m Gonna Love You,” there’s a high probability that the track becomes Aldean’s 29th career #1 hit in the coming months judging by the ten million streams it has on Spotify alone, as well as the longevity of many established artists’ chart-risers throughout the years.
It should also be noted simply how successful Aldean has truly been over the past 17 years. Dating back to 2008, the Georgia native has scored a #1 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country and Country Airplay chart in every single year except for 2024.
For those unfamiliar with just how rare of achievement scoring a #1 on the aforementioned charts for 16 straight years is, current radio darlings such as Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney and Blake Shelton have never even come close to a stretch of number ones in consecutive years that rivals Aldean. To say his sustained radio success is nothing short of unprecedented would be an understatement.
