This one may sound familiar.
Back in December of last year, Morgan Wallen shared a teaser of an unreleased song with the caption, “I Had Some help,” that he wrote with Post Malone, ERNEST and Charlie Handsome, to his Instagram account. He later deleted the reel the next morning after fans expressed their distaste for the track in the comments, professedly a first for the Last Night singer.
Fast forward to today, and we’ve officially received another teaser of the track from Post himself, implying that it will be featured on his upcoming country record (whenever he decides to drop it) rather than Morgan Wallen’s.
Malone has been teasing going country for a while now. Back in June of 2022, he sat down with Howard Stern and talked about the possibilities of making a country album: “To be honest, there’s nothing stopping me from taking a camera or setting up in my studio in Utah and just recording a country album [to put] on YouTube.”
Since then, the 28 year-old rapper has famously covered songs from Sturgill Simpson, Brad Paisley, and also teased a collaboration with Luke Combs, as well as making an appearance alongside HARDY and Morgan at last year’s CMA Awards.
Although the production is very similar to the original demo that Morgan shared last year, the key difference in this version is it features real drums during the chorus instead of the computerized tracks we originally heard from Morgan’s Instagram, which is a nice touch. Even Post captioned the reel with “let’s go with the real mix this time @morganwallen 😂.“
Regardless, it’s extremely catchy and I believe it has the potential to be the song of 2024. Check out the video clip, below.
