This is something you probably haven’t seen before.
After dominating the country charts in the 90’s and early 2000’s, Kenny Chesney reached a new milestone in his career when he performed his first-ever headlining stadium concert in June of 2003.
Performing for a crowd of nearly 62,000 people at Neyland Stadium, Kenny celebrated his substantial achievement by having some of the biggest names in Country music open for him that night.
Those names included the legendary duo, Brooks & Dunn, as well as Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and Deana Carter.
Aside from those openers, Kenny also surprised those in attendance by bringing out a couple big names during his own set, including Kid Rock for a performance of his 1999 hit, “Cowboy.”
The most interesting (and fitting) celebrity to join the then 35 year-old superstar that night just might’ve been legendary Quarterback, Peyton Manning, who played college football there when he attended the University of Tennessee.
Manning has been no stranger to the country music world over the last few years, coming off his second year in a row co-hosting the CMA Awards alongside Luke Bryan. But in hindsight, I’m not sure if too many people knew he was a country music fan way back then.
The football star came out during Chesney’s performance of “Back Where I Come From,” off his 1996 record, “Me and You.” Although it was never officially released as a single, the track was still popular with No Shoes Nation and was even certified gold by the RIAA back in 2018.
Pretty big moment for Kenny Chesney, pretty cool moment for country music fans. Watch the video here:
