Good news for country/rock fans.
Today it was announced that HARDY and Nickelback have officially teamed up for an episode of CMT Crossroads.
The episode was recorded earlier this month in Nashville, and will air on April 6th at 8p.m. ET, as part of the networks CMT Music Awards weekend programming block. It will feature performances of Nickelback’s “Savin’ Me” and “Animals,” as well as HARDY’s “Truck Bed” and “Give Heaven Some Hell.” The pair also reportedly recorded a mashup of both of their “Rockstar” singles.
While HARDY released a half country, half rock album back in January of last year, the 33 year-old Mississippi native has plans to release his first full rock album sometime before his “QUIT!!” tour kicks off in Rogers, Arkansas, this May.
While Nickelback may have had to endure years of being the butt of many internet memes and jokes, they still sold over 50 million albums worldwide and are one of the most successful rock bands of all time. Interestingly enough, it’s been country artists whom have helped make rock music somewhat popular again over the last few years, and I’m assuming that’s why you’ve seen Nickelback not only go on tour with Brantley Gilbert, but now record the latest installment of CMT’s collaborative series alongside HARDY.
This isn’t the first time HARDY and Nickelback have shared the stage together, however. They also performed “Sold Out” at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville last August on Nickelback’s Get Rollin’ Tour. You can watch that, as well as other surprise performances that included Jason Aldean, Chris Daughtry, Jelly Roll and more, here.
Hosted by Kelsea Ballerini for the fourth year in a row, the CMT Awards will air live from the Moody Theater in Austin, TX, the very next night on CBS and Paramount+.
