Dylan Gossett is quietly becoming one of the fastest-rising artists in the indie country scene.
Amassing over 250,000 followers on TikTok, 120,000 followers on Instagram and one million monthly listeners on Spotify, the Texas singer/songwriter has quickly risen through the ranks as one of the most exciting new voices in the genre. Not only is Gossett touring with one of country’s fastest-growing stars, Wyatt Flores, but he’s also back with a brand new release, Beneath Oak Trees.
Beneath Oak Trees marks only the fifth officially released song from Gossett. However, his writing style and overall sound feel like that of a seasoned one, much in the vein of Zach Bryan and Charles Wesley Godwin. With a heavy dose of fiddle throughout the track and some expertly written lines that would make Tyler Childers blush, the future is bright for the twenty-four-year-old artist.
Like any good writer, Gossett has a certain way of saying things in unique and different ways. The third verse, in particular, is where his writing truly shines.
“Don’t you know of the road that never has an end
Cross over lines, smell the pines from the places we have been
Stand here now and just know that these words will never change
And put your palms into mine so our hearts can beat the same
Instead of saying, “I won’t change.” and “Hold my hand,” Gossett expertly weaves in clever ways to express these same simple sentences.
The final line, in particular, is such a romantic, unique way of asking someone to take your hand and feel their embrace. With lyrics as image-filled and poetic as these, it’s hard to imagine how bright the future is for Coal singer.
His debut, six-track EP, No Better Time releases on October 27th. Presave it, here.
