Showin’ everyone how it’s done.
After last night’s disaster of a National Anthem performance from Ingrid Andress ahead of the MLB Home Run Derby that had everyone on the internet calling it the worst performance of the song ever, none other than Cody Johnson stepped up big tonight at the All Star Game.
Before the start of the 94th MLB All Star Game at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, which featured the likes of Shohei Ohtani, Bryce Harper, Aaron Judge, Paul Skenes, Mookie Betts and more, the “‘Til You Can’t” singer rose to the occasion and knocked the performance out of the park (pun intended).
This isn’t the first time that Johnson has sung the National Anthem before. Most notably, he sang it before Game 7 of the 2019 World Series in Houston when the Washington Nationals shocked the world and defeated the Houston Astros en route to their first-ever World Series championship.
It should come as no surprise that he killed the performance both times and once again proved why he is one of the most underrated performers in the genre. Whether it’s his passionate speeches at his concerts, the powerful National Anthem performances seemingly every year or his killer live shows, Johnson is the best of the best.
On behalf of all country music fans, baseball fans and people with functioning ears, thank you for your service, Cody Johnson.
