On the road again.
On Friday, Country Rocker, Kolby Cooper, released his newest single, Hello From The Road, an anthemic crossover about the woes of life out on tour. Cooper announced the release on twitter late Thursday night, complete with psychedelic album art that would be right at home in the 1970s.
Kolby rocks about as hard as anyone on the country scene today, and he lives up to that reputation on the new track. The choppy guitar intro is almost reminiscent of early 2000’s pop punk production (think peak Green Day), and the heavy electric guitars keep constant energy throughout the song. Framed from the perspective of a phone call home to a loved one, the lyrics tell the story of a weary artist feeling the effects the tour life can have. He loves the music and the crowds, but the loneliness of a new city every day wears him down. The chorus relays that message ever so concisely:
“I just feel alone, I wish I was at home, guess I gotta go, hello from the road.“
Kolby has one of the most consistent sounds in country music, and he’s been regularly putting out new tunes since he first broke on the scene in 2018. His 2022 debut album ‘Boy From Anderson County To The Moon ‘was a success, and spawned big hits in Excuses and Breaking News that raised his profile dramatically.
While we haven’t gotten any word on a sophomore record from him quite yet, he seems to be building towards something with his second single in as many months, following his release of Kill Me in July. He’s currently on tour with stops primarily in Texas, as well as several more throughout the western states.
