Honoring the big dog daddy.
Last night, some of country music’s biggest artists took the stage at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville to pay tribute to the late, great, Toby Keith. With performances from Jamey Johnson, Lainey Wilson, Parker McCollum, Darius Rucker, and more, the event benefited TK’s foundation’s, the OK Kids Korral and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
While of course, there were performances of “Beer For My Horses” and “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,” it was Eric Church who sang one of Toby’s popular, yet more underrated singles, “As Good As I Once Was.”
The song was released in back in 2005 as the second single from Toby’s ninth studio album, “Honky Tonk University.” It reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart just two months later, where it stayed for six straight weeks.
Keith will be remembered for his patriotism, humor, and his remarkable thirty-year music career that spawned twenty #1 hits and a massive 40 million album sales. Rest easy, big dog daddy.
