One of the most underrated artists of all time.
Earlier this morning, Josh Turner officially announced his tenth studio album, “This Country Music Thing,” will be out everywhere on August 16th.
Along with the release date announcement, Turner also dropped his second single from the forthcoming album titled, “Down In Georgia.” Written by Tyler Booth, Anthony Olympia and Brent Rupard, the new song comes just two months after the release of his upbeat, sultry fiddle-filled track, “Heatin’ Things Up.”
“It’s time for a new chapter! It’s been a long time coming and I think y’all are gonna love it.”
It’s been almost seven years since Josh Turner fans have received an entire full project of original songs. Although he’s released three albums during this timespan, 2018’s “I Serve a Savior” was mostly a gospel album, 2020’s “Country State of Mind” was entirely a cover album, and his most recent record from October of 2021, “King Size Manger,” was filled with nothing but Christmas tunes.
It’s neither shocking nor disrespectful to admit that Turner’s prime is behind him, as the “Your Man” singer has spent his recent years laying low and focusing on being a dad. However, with that said, country radio is always better with Josh’s deep baritone vocals thrown in the mix. And his new song “Down In Georgia” is exactly what country radio needs.
Turner’s new record, which has him listed as a co-writer on three of the eleven tracks, will also be pressed on vinyl and made available for record players everywhere on September 13th. Check out his newest release here:
