One of the most legendary trios to every share the stage. Back in 2004, country music icons Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard came together for a tremendous rendition of the latter two’s 1983 classic, “Pancho and Lefty,” for the TV special, “Willie Nelson & Friends: Outlaws & Angels.” Originally penned and recorded by the great Townes Van Zandt in 1972, the western-outlaw tune was later popularized by Nelson and Haggard, who recorded their own version to be the centerpiece of their collaborative album by the same name. Their version eventually became a number one hit on the billboard…

Starting a petition for these Kentucky boys to record an official studio duet. In the midst of a two-week residency at the legendary Ryman Auditorium back in 2018, Tyler Childers brought out fellow indie-country star Sturgill Simpson for a soulful rendition of “Whitehouse Road.” Coming off of 2017’s “Purgatory,” the tune was a fan-favorite amongst the Childers faithful and is still one of the signature songs in his discography. While unfortunately Simpson doesn’t lend his voice to the song, he makes up for it by absolutely shredding on lead electric guitar, especially in the second half. Childers nails the the…

Blast from the past. The 90’s were an exciting time for country music with artists such as Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, and the Dixie Chicks at the forefront of the scene. And although the sound may be coming back thanks to guys like Zach Top and Braxton Keith, it seems that we are removed far enough from the 90’s to the point where modern country artists are commonly covering songs that are now considered “classics.” Let’s take a look at some of the best 90’s country covers by today’s artists: Brand New Man – Luke Combs (Brooks…

Chris Stapleton can do what few artists can’t- make stadiums, arenas, and theaters feel like intimate, Friday-night bar rooms. Back in 2022, the ten-time Grammy winner honored country music legend, Vince Gill, at his CMT Giants special by performing the beloved “Whenever You Come Around” in front of Gill, himself. Written by Vince Gill and Pete Wasner, the 1994 hit reached #2 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and has since become a true classic, covered by both legends like Willie Nelson and contemporary superstars like Luke Combs. Prior to his performance, Stapleton singles Gill out in the crowd, telling…

Luke Combs and Vince Gill sharing the 2023 CMA Fest stage in front of 90,000 country music fans is a recipe for an electrifying performance. The staple 90’s singer/songwriter and current country superstar joined forces last summer for an incredible rendition of Gill’s 1993 no. 1 hit, “One More Last Chance”. Upon its release, the tune topped the U.S. country charts, becoming his third of seven career number one hits. Co-written with Gary Nicholson, it appeared on Gill’s 5x platinum, career defining album, “I Still Believe In You.” Luke Combs has been very forward about his admiration for Vince Gill,…

This is my official petition to bring the #deepcuts challenge back. When COVID-19 put the world on pause back in 2020, Tim McGraw started the social media trend, challenging other country stars to post videos of themselves covering their favorite deep cuts from other artists. Morgan Wallen was nominated for the challenge by Thomas Rhett, and fresh off being on tour with Jason Aldean, he chose to record his own version of one of Aldean’s most underrated songs, “Water Tower.” The original, which Morgan refers to as one of his “favorite songs,” was written by Michael Dulaney, Paul Jenkins and Jason Sellers, and…
