Making history.
After a Verizon commercial aired during the Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and victorious Kansas City Chiefs, Beyoncé shocked the world when she surprise-dropped two brand-new “country” songs to all streaming platforms.
Of the two, the song that she chose to send to country radio was “Texas Hold ‘Em,” sparking much debate as to whether the song, or even if Beyoncé herself, fit in with the country crowd.
While we all have our opinions, the “bee hive,” much like the “Swifties,” have been working overtime since the moment it dropped to help the legendary pop/R&B singer make history. And that she did.
“Texas Hold ‘Em” recently debuted a #50 on Billboard’s country airplay chart, a huge accomplishment in itself, but the bigger news revealed today is that the song also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, making Beyoncé the first female black artist to ever do so.

On top of that, she joins Taylor Swift as the only female artist in history to debut at #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart with a solo song in the charts 80-year history.

Beyoncé ended Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ twenty-week run at #1 with their grammy-winning duet, “I Remember Everything,” since it debuted at the top spot back in September. If you haven’t had the chance to listen yet, check out Texas Hold ‘Em here:
