Fresh off of their first-ever ACM Award nomination for Group of the Year, Flatland Cavalry is back with a highly-anticipated cover of the classic Fleetwood Mac track from 1975, “Landslide.”
The cover has been a staple during their current Wandering Star tour, being played at nearly every show primarily acoustically by frontman, Cleto Cordero.
It was first teased by the band on Instagram back on April 10, and fans were immediately clamoring for an officially release. They added even more fuel to the fire a week later when they uploaded a performance of the track live from the Ryman.
Today, Cordero and Co. finally gave the fans what they so desperately wanted and officially released the cover on streaming services.
While it might sound like hyperbole to say that it’s one of the greatest covers I’ve ever heard, I don’t think it’s an incredible stretch. Cordero’s vocals suit “Landslide” perfectly. He strikes the perfect blend of tenderness and strength in his vocal performance, feeling extremely similar to Stevie Nick’s original.
Along with the official studio release, Flatland also included the aforementioned live performance at the Ryman where Cordero incorporated the beginning of the chorus of their certified gold track, “A Life Where We Work Out” into the final verse.
“I took my love and I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
If life is only ups and downs
Then maybe you’ll come back around
In a life where we work out”
