Over this past weekend, Lainey Wilson took her headlining “Country’s Cool Again Tour” to Nashville, Tennessee, for two back-to-back nights at the Ascend Amphitheater, and lucky for the fans in attendance, she had a couple surprises up her sleeve.
On the first night, Lainey brought out Wynonna Judd to help her perform a cover of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers classic song “Refugee,” which she is featured on for the upcoming Tom Petty tribute album, “Petty Country.”

On the second night, Lainey welcomed Miranda Lambert to perform her 2005 platinum hit, “Kerosene,” as well as another performance of their unreleased collaboration, “Good Horses.”
This isn’t the first time Lainey has surprised concertgoers with a special appearance from Miranda, however, as the pair first debuted their brand new track back in December at the Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. Here’s a taste of the lyrics from the chorus:
“I don’t need a compass, I don’t need a saddle / Let go of the reins baby, let me unravel / If you want to love me, you don’t need a rope / You just need to know / Good horses come home.”
Miranda has dominated the country charts for almost two decades, while Lainey Wilson now holds the Billboard chart history record for the shortest break between #1 singles by a female country artist. I think it’s safe to say this collaboration would be a hit.
