It’s fairly common to see artists get tired of playing their classic hits. From country music’s own Tyler Childers not including his biggest song, “Feathered Indians,” on his setlist to Radiohead being hesitant to play their smash hit, “Creep,” there are plenty of artists and bands throughout music that have strayed away from playing fan favorites at their live shows.
During his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show back in June, Kenny Chesney touched on not playing one of the most iconic songs, “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” on his current Sun Goes Down 2024 tour, which is on the road now.
In the interview, co-host, Ty Schmit, asked Chesney if he had gotten tired of playing any of his hits while on tour. Chesney almost instantly replied by pointing to none other than “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” saying, “I’ve gotten there with several songs. We don’t do ‘She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy’ this year.”
Seemingly in protest, McAfee and the gang jokingly started singing the song in response. After, the “When the Sun Goes Down” singer finished by saying, “I got so sick of singing it. We might throw it out every now and then.”
It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise given that Chesney has 33 career #1 hits over the span of his three-decade career. When you have that many iconic hits, there are only so many you can fit into a 90-minute setlist.
