Back before the mullet…
Posted to Youtube almost six years ago, but definitely appearing to be earlier, Morgan Wallen shared a cover on the piano of his good buddy Eric Church’s song, “Like Jesus Does,” and it’s pretty damn good if ya ask me.
One of my favorite Church songs still to this day, the track was released as the fifth and final single off of his biggest album to date, “Chief.”
It was written by Casey Beathard and Monty Criswell and is one of three songs on any of Church’s albums that he himself is not credited as a writer. It is currently certified platinum by the RIAA.
Based off of the long hair and his vocal performance, I would assume this cover was filmed around the time Morgan auditioned for NBC’s The Voice back in 2014. Regardless, I should start a petition for Morgan to record a studio version of this, ASAP.
