Earlier today (June 18), industry professionals from all across Nashville, Tennessee and beyond gathered at Halls Chophouse to celebrate an extremely impressive feat, Warren Zeiders‘ first number one hit, “Pretty Little Poison.”
Zeiders — who is known for his “country storytelling, heartland twang and larger-than-life rock & roll” — made waves with his debut single “Pretty Little Poison,” topping the Billboard Country Airplay chart dated March 2, 2024, becoming the first debut single to top the chart since “Whiskey on You” by Nate Smith (which was released thirteen months earlier).
From securing his first CMT Award to his first number one single thanks to “Pretty Little Poison,” the impact that this tune has had on the 25-year-old has been tremendous. Reflecting on his rollercoaster of a musical journey so far, Zeiders sat down with the media to discuss all things “Pretty Little Poison” — alongside songwriters Ryan Beaver and Jared Keim — as well as the impact that it has had on his life altogether, prior to delving into all of the action that Halls Chophouse had to offer.
“Never in a million years would I think that I’d be here today answering questions about my number one song on country radio,” Zeiders gushed. “All the things that this song has done just from three years ago thinking I’m graduating college to now — here I’m full bore in the country music scene and doing the thing, and whether it’s how many lives that song has touched to the aspect of my live show to people’s belief in my music more… It also gives you a confidence boost as well.”
Naturally, this tune — which was originally named “Pretty Poison,” according to Beaver — has touched his loved ones as well, sharing a tear-jerking story that took place on New Year’s Eve with his family regarding the chart-topping track.
“My dad’s my number one fan. He’s always been my biggest, you know, hero in my life, and he just kind of has always been so supportive of me, and I don’t think there wasn’t a day where he wasn’t sending me a video or a picture of ‘Pretty Little Poison’ playing on the radio,” he prefaced. “I had thought back to this moment. It was New Year’s Eve this past year, and we were in the car together. We had just got done with the bar, and they were dropping me off at my place, and it came on right before midnight. It kind of like clicked for me of like, ‘Oh wow, we’re going to this new year,’ and it was just like, ‘Wow, you are on country radio.’ Like this is your life. This is what’s happening for you, and then shortly after that, two or three months later, we’re celebrating a number one.”
After concluding his emotional, reflective chat with Country Chord and other media, Zeiders joined the party, complete with good food, friendly faces, tear-jerking speeches, and more special surprises.
After mingling for a minute or two, the Pennsylvania native eventually took the stage alongside co-writers Beaver and Keim — as well as critically-acclaimed producer Ross Copperman — to speak to the crowd, as well as accept a few gifts. Tearing up as he thanked those who helped make “Pretty Little Poison” come to be, Zeiders accepted a guitar, a plaque and more goodies. From the looks of it, it is safe to say that the four individuals onstage got the recognition that they deserved for all of their hard work and success!
Ever since the release of “Pretty Little Poison” — as well as the release of his debut album of the same name — Zeiders has hit his country music career full steam ahead. With his newest single “Relapse” hitting streaming services on June 6 — as well as supporting Jelly Roll on his The Beautifully Broken tour — it is clear that the future is bright for the country crooner, with “Pretty Little Poison” paving the way for a lifetime of future success.
