After re-releasing their 1989 #1 hit, “Two Dozen Roses,” with Luke Combs back in 2023, Shenandoah decided to up the ante in September with the release of “Sunday in the South” featuring Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.
The re-release has been quite the success for the legendary band with over a million streams on Spotify alone and a placement on our “Best Songs of September” list. Yesterday, they took to Instagram to announce the song’s official music video:
“Sunday in the South” has long been Shenandoah’s second biggest hit behind “Two Dozen Roses,” topping the charts in August of 1989 and frequently being listed as one of their top songs throughout their career.
Directed by The Edde Brothers, who have collaborated with the likes of Jon Pardi, Brett Eldredge and Randy Rogers Band, the music video centers on a scene of Aldean, Bryan and Shenandoah sitting at a dinner table. The simple diner setting coupled with B-roll of a small town complete with churches, barber shops and bleachers perfectly captures the slow simplicity of the song itself and the mood it captures.
