As “Music’s Biggest Night” kicks off, early winners of the 2024 Grammy Awards are already being announced.
Several of the country category winners are being released before the official televised ceremony including Chris Stapleton, who is off to a great start winning both Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for his song, “White Horse.”
This was Stapleton’s fifth time in the running for the Best Country Song award, winning previously with “Traveller,” “Broken Halos,” and “Cold.” Last year, however, his song “I’ll Love You Till The Day I Die” lost to Cody Johnson’s “‘Til You Can’t”.
“White Horse” went live on July 21, just ahead of the release of his 2023 album, Higher. Since its release, the song has peaked at 12 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and finished at 55 on Billboard’s Year-End US Hot Country Songs list.
The back-to-back Grammy Awards make Stapleton a 10x Grammy Award winner, adding him to a prestigious list of double-digit Grammy recipients. In the world of country, he just beat the likes of Sheryl Crow, who holds 9 Grammy Awards, and is now tied with Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt at 10.
Stapleton’s night is not yet finished, though, as we await the results for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Both he and Carly Pierce were nominated for their song “We Don’t Fight Anymore”.
