One of the hottest artists in country music right now.
Few artists had a bigger breakout than Wyatt Flores did in 2023, and from the looks of it he has no plans to slow down anytime soon. On Tuesday the 22 year old shared a teaser of an unreleased song, and the immediate response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Some of the highlights from the comments section include:
“PLEASE RELEASE.”
“Sooooo how soon we gettin this?”
“Screaming crying throwing up I love this.”
“What the hell man I wasn’t supposed to be sad today.”
That last one rings particularly true, as the song comes from the perspective of an ex talking to the girl he let go. He details all the parts of himself that she can hate, including his “eyes for watching you leave” and his “hands for letting you go,” before making his final plea to “please don’t hate my heart.”
Flores previously released a clip of him playing a portion of the song to his YouTube page last August. That video appears to have flown under the radar, with his Instagram post garnering more likes in under an hour than the older recording has in over four months. Interestingly, the song appears to be titled “Milwaukee,” despite no obvious reference to the city in the lyrics.
Indie country is in the middle of its spotlight moment thanks to the success of artists such as Zach Bryan and Tyler Childers, and Flores is one of the budding stars taking full advantage. The Oklahoma native started gaining attention on TikTok before releasing his debut EP Life Lessons in November to a largely positive reception.
Most recently Wyatt released a cover The Fray’s hit “How To Save a Life” that puts a spin on the 2000’s pop classic that is uniquely his. A clip went viral last week of Flores playing the song from the bed of his pickup truck for a group of people gathered outside his sold out show in Nashville.
In December Flores released the dates for his “Life Lessons” tour, a 33 show circuit that includes support from the likes of Kat Hasty, Nolan Taylor, and several opening gigs for the Turnpike Troubadours.
