Another shakeup in the coaching panel.
This morning, NBC officially announced the four coaches who will be propped up in the big red chairs when ‘The Voice’ returns to television next spring.
O.G. fans of the hit singing competition should be thrilled to learn that Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine, will be returning as a coach for the fist time since his exit after season 16 in 2019.
Season 27 will also include returning coaches Michael Bublé and John Legend, as well as newcomer (and the new country artist,I guess), Kelsea Ballerini.
Blake Shelton, who was a coach on The Voice for 13 years straight, appearing in 23 seasons alongside host Carson Daly, was replaced by Reba McEntire, who just wrapped up her second season and will be the only current coach brought back for season 26 when she joins The Voice alum and Blake’s wife, Gwen Stefani, along with newcomers Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé.
While Shelton has stated multiple times that he has no plans to return to the singing competition show, he has admitted that there’s one scenario that would tempt him into coming back:
“If they were ever able to put together the original four coaches again, maybe [I’d return] for one season, a one-off. That would be fun for me and something I would be interested in doing.”
At this point I’m convinced Blake will return as a mentor for Adam’s team next year, but having them both back as full-time judges would probably boost NBC’s rating substantially.
The network has not yet announced an official premiere date for season 27 — but season 26 is set to air this fall, per usual.
