Nowadays, Tyler Childers seems like the type of guy you’d have to run over his newborn baby just to even begin to piss him off.
It’s hard to imagine anything in the world truly getting under his skin. Though, that’s probably partially due to the fact that he gives himself a five-minute intermission at every show before performing “Bitin’ List,” where he gets to rant about whatever the h*ll he wants and get all that pent-up hatred out of his system.
And apparently, one of his most common recurring pet peeves is people who don’t put their shopping carts away. The West Virginia singer has gone on some lengthy rants in the past about this heated topic, most recently shouting from the rooftops about this public annoyance at his show in New York this past Thursday, August 13.
Childers was up on the stage at the Darien Center absolutely hootin’ and hollerin’ about the ordeal, explaining to his thousands of screaming fans that the process of putting your cart away is fairly simple: “You picked it out, you pushed it around, you filled it with groceries, you took it out to your car, you unloaded it and you couldn’t even do that extra— its not even an extra step, it’s the last step in the shopping experience.”
I can feel his cheeks boiling up from here as he angrily exclaimed, “You take it back to the corral place in the middle of the g*d d*amn parking lot!” Childers’ point-blank called out every negligent shopper, saying, “Laziness, that’s your problem, buddy.”
Now, I’m not going to claim to be a saint; I’ve left a cart behind here or there in my lifetime, but for the most part you’ll catch me getting my extra steps in to return it. Mostly because there’s absolutely nothin’ worse in the world than when it’s a windy day and you start to see those little buggers flying around the parking lot. OR even worse when you finally see an open parking spot, only to creep up and find a cart sitting right smack dab in the middle of it.
Fans underneath a similar clip posted from one of Childers’ shows from this past weekend chimed in, mostly agreeing with the country music star in the comment section. There were, however, quite a few people who so boldly admitted they’re lazy and ignorant, voicing off about how leaving their carts behind gives the cart attendants “job security”:

Personally, the biggest thing I took away from this video is that I need one of my friends to play background piano music for a solid 10 minutes while I rant about whatever I want. Tyler might be onto something.
Unfortunately for fans hoping to see him let out every intrusive thought on stage, Childers only has a handful of shows remaining this year as he returns to the stage next month on September 26 at the Ohana Festival. Following his California show, he’ll only have four more stops currently scheduled for 2026.
