Last night (June 15), country music lovers from all across America gathered at Kyle Field at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas for the largest United States-based concert of all time, featuring a show-stopping performance from the one and only George Strait.
With the record previously being held by The Grateful Dead since 1977 — who had 107,019 fans in attendance at their show at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Old Bridge, New Jersey — Strait had 110,905 fans in attendance for a musical extravaganza called George Strait: The King at Kyle Field, featuring support from fellow Texas natives Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman.
As one can assume, the show was nothing short of spectacular, with the country crooner singing some of his greatest hits, as well as playfully interacting with the crowd. We can only assume that his Texas-themed tunes — “All My Ex’s Live in Texas,” “Take Me to Texas” and more — hit extra hard…
“What’s going on everybody?” Strait exclaimed to the crowd during the midst of his phenomenal performance. “We got some Aggies out there? Oh yeah! I’m ashamed to say this, but this is my first time to ever be in Kyle Field… damn! Just invite me back, I’ll come!”
Naturally, fans were thrilled by this night to remember, sharing videos from the special show via TikTok and expressing their satisfaction:
“They don’t call him the King of Country for nothing 😎”
“George proved once again why he is called King George! Played over 2+ hours!”
“We love our George Strait here in Texas!”
